Over many years of working with brides we have tested a wide range of approaches. These five options below are the ones we most often recommend, ordered roughly from simplest to most polished.
1. Hang-Drying in a Dark, Dry Spot
Bind the stems loosely with twine and suspend them upside down in a wardrobe or cupboard away from direct sunlight. Leave them for two to three weeks. The darkness protects the colour, and airflow prevents mildew from settling between the petals.
2. Silica Gel Beads for Full Colour
Silica gel preserves form and hue far better than simple air-drying. Gently bury the flower heads in a sealed container of beads and leave them for roughly a week. The result is a crisp, paper-light bloom that keeps its original palette almost intact.
3. Flat Pressing Between Heavy Books
Lay individual stems or a flattened spray between sheets of baking paper inside a heavy book, then stack more books on top. After two to four weeks you will have delicate pressed botanicals, perfect for framing or tucking into a guest book.
4. Resin Casting for a Modern Look
Dried petals can be sealed into clear epoxy resin to create jewellery, paperweights, or display cubes. Work in thin layers so air bubbles can escape, and always test the resin on a spare flower first.
5. Professional Freeze-Drying

Whichever method you choose, start quickly. Blooms preserve best when they are still fresh, so begin within a day or two of your celebration. Keep a couple of loose stems aside as a test before committing your entire bouquet.
